Abstract

The use of both Lang and synchrotron radiation topography for investigations of Ferromagnetic domains in terbium and ferric borate, and of Jahn-Teller domains in dysprosium vanadate is described. The topographic quality assessment of flux grown rare earth aluminates and arsenates is also described, as is work on the magneto- optics of ferric borate assuming a l80 Bloch wall lying perpendicular to the c-axis. A comparison of the resolution of Lang and synchrotron topography with particular reference to defects in a silicon crystal is also presented.
