Abstract

This thesis examines how Luke uses scripture ecclesiologically to demonstrate the
church is the 'faithful' portion of Israel, and how he attempts to present the 'Way' as a school within Judaism. This goes against a tendency to argue that Luke advocates a departure from Judaism to Christianity. To make this point I compare Luke-Acts with Romans 9-11, Revelation 12 and 4QFlorilegium (4Q174) to situate him within his early Jewish environment.
